Wilma (Rakoske) Martin

November 10, 1928 — September 1, 2019

Wilma Rakoske Martin, born November 10, 1928, Savannah, Georgia, oldest of six children born to Blanche DeLoach Rakoske and Albert Robert Rakoske, passed away September 1, 2019.

Mrs. Martin was active in her community. A charter member and elder of Belle Isle Presbyterian Church, a charter member and first President of the Belle Isle Garden Club. A charter member and the first Treasurer of the Eadytown VFD. Mrs. Martin was a former member and President of the Berkeley County Historical Society, a former President of the Berkeley County Democratic Women as well as a former member of Political Wire.

Mrs. Martin was married to Thomas M. Martin for 63 years until his death March 31, 2010.

She is survived by her children, Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Dale Overstreet Martin of St. Petersburg, Florida; Deborah Martin Simons and her husband, Julian of Sullivan’s Island; Michael Martin of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; four grandchildren- Bobby and Judith Simons of Mt. Pleasant; Tom Martin, III and Michelle of Tampa, Fla.; Michelle Martin Gomelia of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; James and Heathe Martin of Chuluota, Fla.; three great grandsons- Thomas Simons and Harrison Simons of Mt. Pleasant and Briggs Martin Gomelia of Cape Canaveral, Fla.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Martin was predeceased by a grandson- Jules Simons and a sister- Elmer Ruth Rakoske Chute.

All services were private.
