William “Bill” Emil Rusch, 90, of Bonneau, husband of Marilyn Carter Rusch, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022.
Bill was born May 11, 1932, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Alma Steinfeldt Rusch.
Mr. Rusch was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a member of First Baptist Church of Bonneau. Having joined the military, Bill proudly served our country in the US Navy, and retired after more than 20 years, many of those years as a Senior Chief, and Chief of the Boat, while Marilyn was honored to be the Chief of the Boat’s Wife. He was a member of the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve. Bill and Marilyn loved to bowl while he was in the Navy, and Bill played many rounds of golf in his younger years. He enjoyed spending time outside working in his yard, was an avid NASCAR fan, and loved following Bill Elliot, then his son, Chase Elliot. Bill and Marilyn loved to travel and attend all sporting events with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 56 years are three sons- Jerry Rusch and his wife Beth, of Summerville; Richard Rusch and his wife, Julia, of John’s Island; Thomas Rusch and his wife, Shannon, of Bonneau; eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, and two grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at Bonneau Baptist Church, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 12 o’clock. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the Bonneau Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 o’clock until the hour of service.
