William "Bill" Houston Weaver

William Houston Weaver, 88, of Cross, S.C., U S. Navy veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, husband of Carol White Weaver, died Saturday, September 10, 2016, in VA Medical Center.

William was born May 20, 1928, in Lana, Mississippi, the son of Lenard Sylvester Weaver and Carrie Lee Moore Weaver.

He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam he was also a member of the Association of Sub Vets. After retiring from the military, he worked as a cook at Acey Duece Club in North Charleston and a meat cutter at Peagler's Grocery. He was a member of the Berkeley Electric Round Up Board and Belle Isle Presbyterian Church. In later years he enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends and spending time in his wood shop. He touched many lives and will be sadly missed.


Surviving in addition to his wife, are three daughters - Paula Sanders of Sacramento, CA: Elaine Weaver of Kona, Hawaii; Debbie DuBois and her husband, Ron, of Deltona, FL; two sons - William H. Weaver II and his wife, Diane, of Baldhead, City, AZ; and Monte Weaver of Trenton, N.J.; a brother - Marcus Leon Weaver of Forest, MS: two sisters - Francis Williams of Shallowmar, FL; and Jewell Lorraine Murphy and her husband, Gus, of Jackson, MS; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Tuesday morning, September 13, 2016, at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL Monday evening, September 12, between 6 and 8 o'clock.
