William "Bill" Johns

William “Bill” Francis Johns, 83, of Bethera, husband of Alberta Pierce Johns, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018.

Bill was born February 1, 1935, in Stilson, Georgia, son of Joseph Melvin Johns and Mary Kathleen McCall Johns.

A devoted husband of 31 years, he and his wife Alberta co-owned and operated Johns Painting. Bill was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, he also served his country in the US Army and enjoyed gardening and watching Westerns. Bill loved the Lord, his church, witnessing and sharing his faith through word and song. He will be sadly missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife are eight children- Carol Meredith of Pensacola, Fla.; James Williams of Moncks Corner; Joann Williams of Ludowice, Ga.; Joe Williams and his wife, Patti, of Bonneau; Frances Allmon and her husband, Scott, of Salisbury, NC.; William A. Johns of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mary Wright and her husband, Mark, of Salisbury, NC; Bruce L. Johns of Newington, Ga.; 25 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; a brother- Robert Johns and his wife, Gloria, of Statesboro, Ga. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by two sisters- Juanita Lanier and Josephine Owens and three brothers- Joseph Johns, Jr.; George Johns and Franklin Johns.

His funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon, February 21, 2018, at 2 o’clock. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 o’clock until the hour of service.
