Wade Hampton Ertzberger

Senior Chief Ships Serviceman (SHCS) Wade Hampton Ertzberger, USN, Retired, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the age of 85.

Senior Chief was a 21 year Navy Veteran, serving on Destroyers which he loved. He was also retired Purchasing Agent for the Charleston County School System.

Mr. Ertzberger was born August 28, 1928 in Cowarts N.C. son of the late Walker Jefferson Ertzberger and the late Nancy Minerva Passmore Ertzberger. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Doris Jean Conrad Ertzberger, who passed away October 3, 2013. He was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 10 sisters.

Surviving are his son Randall Wade Ertzberger and his wife, Carol, of Rocky Face, Ga; grandson, Phillip Randall Ertzberger; great grandson, Donovan Randall Ertzberger, both of Gig Harbor, Wa., and his sister, Iva Lee Ertzberger Coggins, of Mills River, NC.

Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Sue Greco of St. Petersburg, Fl.; and Toni Blevins and her, husband Grady, of Bessemer City NC. And many much-loved nephews and nieces, including a special grand niece, Julia Gulledge.

His funeral service will be held at Carnes Crossroads Church of God Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 2014 at 3:30 pm. Interment will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL Moncks Corner, Tuesday evening June 17, 2014 between 6 and 8 pm. The family will also receive friends at the home, 2343 S. Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner.
