Virginia (Eubanks) Umphlett

Virginia Eubanks Umphlett, 97, of Moncks Corner, widow of Calhoun Wyndham Umphlett, Sr. passed away August 17, 2021.

Virginia was born February 10, 1924 in Bromley, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Carleton M. Eubanks and Geneva Hackstadt Eubanks.

A graduate of University of Kentucky, with a B.S. in Commerce, Virginia married Calhoun Umphlett May 8, 1948. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner and had also been a past member of the Board of Directors of Presbyterian College. Virginia helped establish the first week day kindergarten at Summerville Presbyterian Church as well as Pinewood School in Summerville.

Surviving are her children- Jennie M. “Peggy” Umphlett of Columbus, NC; C. Wyndham Umphlett, Jr. of Union, SC and Carleton Mills Umphlett and his wife, Evelyn, of Columbus, NC; four grandchildren- Samuel Umphlett, Luke Umphlett, Eden Elaine Umphlett and Angela U. Mohney and her husband, Curt; a great granddaughter- Cora Mohney. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia is predeceased by two sisters- Lavern E. Dryer and Ruth Eubank and a brother- George Eubanks.

The family would like to extend their greatest love and thanks to Linda Dillon for her devotion and love in caring for the family.

Due to Covid all services will be private.
