Virginia Guerry Brown Kirkland

Kirkland, Virginia Guerry Brown, 83, of Macedonia, retired customer service clerk for Home Telephone and greeter at Walmart, first married to the late R.E. Brown, Sr. and widow of C.A. “Buddy” Kirkland, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

Mrs. Virginia was born November 20, 1931, in Charleston, daughter of Ossie Guerry and Azalea Droze Guerry.

Surviving are 3 step-sons- Tommy Kirkland and his wife, Ann, of Macedonia; Jerry Kirkland and his wife, Ann, of Russellville; Gary Kirkland and his wife, Genene, of Russellville; a brother- Bill Guerry and his wife, Carolyn, of Macedonia; 2 sisters- Elene G. Cockcroft of Moncks Corner; Ethel Guerry of Macedonia; 3 daughters-in-law- Vonia Bost; Sharon Kirkland; and Kate Brown (who also served as Mrs. Virginia’s primary care giver for many years); 10 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons- Robert E. Brown Jr.; Kenneth J. Brown Sr.; and step-son Daniel Kirkland.

Her funeral service will be held at Providence Baptist Church, Macedonia, Saturday morning, January 31, 2015, at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 o’clock Friday evening.
