Vasteen “Tena” Hood Hungerpillar, 88, of St. Stephen, widow of William E. “Billy” Hungerpiller, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday June 4, 2017.
Mrs. Hungerpiller was born September 8, 1928 in Bonneau, a daughter of Charley Hood and Julia Orvin Hood.
She was a member of Lexington Baptist Church and a retired technician with GE. Mrs. Hungerpiller enjoyed traveling and shopping. She was able to spend the last years of her life in the comfort of her home due to the help of her wonderful care givers- Ronetha Small, Lapeachtra Small, Charmaine Small, Queenie Wilson and Ann Marion.
Surviving are a sister- Mildred “Baby” Hood Ballentine of St. Stephen; a sister- in- law- Janie McMakin Hood also of St. Stephen; many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers; Charter Hood, Robbie Hood, Theodore Hood, Howard Hood and Gadson Hood.
Her funeral service will be held at Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church, Wednesday afternoon June 7, 2017 at 1 o'clock. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in St. Stephen, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. The family will receive friends at Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church Tuesday evening, June 6, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m.
