Tena Hood Forte

Ithene”Tena”Hood Forte, at the age of 92, entered into eternal rest on February 18, 2025, in Summerville, S.C., surrounded by her family and friends. She was born as the daughter of Harry Middleton Hood and Minnie Floyd Hood on April 26, 1932, in Summerville, S.C.

After many years being employed by Santee Cooper, she retired to enjoy traveling with friends and family on bus trips and cruises. She loved spending time with family, going to the movies, and watching Clemson football games. Her favorite TV shows were Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was a longtime member of Hood’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Macedonia and, later in life, became a member of First Baptist Church in Moncks Corner.

She had an extraordinary talent for Crocheting and cross stitching and blessed her family and friends with afghans, throws, and many personal and meaningful cross-stitch items. Over the years, many babies were blessed with gorgeous baby blankets. She took immense pride in her work, sharing this true labor of love with all.

Tena was the widow of Bobby G. Forte and was preceded in death by two sons: Wayne”BoBo”Forte and Gene Middleton Forte, and one son in law, Madison”Matt”Ford.

Tena is survived by one daughter, Debra Forte-Ford, of Moncks Corner and one son, David Edward Forte, of Oxford, N.C., a sister, Barbara Hood Oliver, two daughters in law, June Brown Forte and Cindy Brown Forte, 10 grandchildren, Sean Forte(Jaime), Brandee Forte Gibson(Carl), Jennifer Forte, Mallory Forte Nickerson, Troy Forte(Jessica), Amy Forte, Josh Forte(Christy), Ryan Ford(Hannah), Amber Ford Neville(Peter), Dewey Ford(Lael), 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be Friday, February 21, 2025, 1:00 pm, at Russell Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 am until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Hood’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Macedonia. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Hood’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 2445 Hwy 17A North, Bonneau, S.C. 29431.
