Susie Ackerman

Susie Ackerman, 82, of Moncks Corner, first married to the late Lee Mizell and the widow of Clifford Ackerman, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at her home.

Mrs. Susie was born December 22, 1927, in Berkeley County, the daughter of Gus Clark and Martha Mizell Clark.

She was a member of the VFW Post 9509 Lady's Auxiliary, having been a long-time employee of the Bar-B-Cue Barn and was fondly known as “ Mrs. Bar-B-Cue”. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter – Kathy Stewart of Moncks Corner; a son – Fred A Mizell and his wife,
Judy, of Moncks Corner; 2 sisters – Dorothy Burbage and her husband, Mendel; and Shula Scott and her husband, Alex, both of Moncks Corner; 5 grandchildren; Joseph (Billy) Stewart and his wife, Amy; Darla Lee Palmer and her husband, Doug; Michael Mizell and his wife,Margo; Kelly Tuten and her husband, Kevin; and Melissa Mizell; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Her graveside funeral service will be held Friday morning, April 23, 2010, in Berkeley Memorial Gardens at 11 o’clock. Family and friends may call at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, this Tuesday evening, April 20, 2010, between 6 and 8 o’clock.
