Miriam Shell Jackson Mills, 59, of Moncks Corner, beloved wife of Richard Mills for 38 years, died Sunday, October 14, 2012, at her home.
Born in Dillon, S.C., on August 25, 1953, she was the daughter of Leroy Jackson and Miriam Virginia Harrelson Jackson.
Shelley was a member of Summerville Family Worship. She was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother. A lifelong educator of elementary and pre-school children, she began her career at Noah's Ark Day Care, then taught 1st and 2nd graders at Grace Christian Academy prior to presently teaching K-4 at Acres of Discovery in Moncks Corner.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are 2 sons - Richie L. Mills II and his wife, Mollie, of Moncks Corner; and Rob F. Mills and his wife, Cassie, of Charleston; 3 brothers - Leroy Jackson, Jr., and his wife, Heidi, of Dillon; Donald Ray Jackson and his wife, Cindy of Knoxville, TN; and Ronald Lee Jackson and his wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville, FL; 2 sisters - Wandalee Walters of Moncks Corner; and Lila Renee Shipman and her husband, Robert, of Ladson; 4 grandchildren - Meghan Mills; Thomas Kennedy; Griffen Mills and Olivia Mills. She was preceded in death by a sister Catherine Denise Bein.
Funeral services for Shelley will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL Wednesday morning, October 17, 2012, at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Dillon, S.C. at 4 o'clock. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel Tuesday evening, October 16, between 6 and 8 o'clock.
