Shelby Jean Gatlin Hood, 75, of Macedonia, a homemaker, wife of Ralph “Jerry” Hood, Sr., passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015.
Shelby Jean was born April 3, 1939, in Berkeley County, a daughter of Sammie Gatlin and Pearline Crawford Gatlin.
A graduate of St. Stephen High School and a member of Macedonia Christian Church. She was a devoted wife of 56 years and a loving mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included baking and decorating cakes as well as watching her son and granddaughters drag race.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter- Linda Hood of Macedonia; a son- Ralph Hood Jr. and his wife, Toni, of Macedonia; 2 granddaughters- Kristen and Whitney Hood, both of Macedonia; a brother- Eddie Gatlin of Alvin; Many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister- Norville Cumbee.
Her funeral service will be held at Macedonia Christian Church, Wednesday afternoon, March 4, 2015, at 3 o’clock. Interment will follow in the Berkeley Grove Cemetery in Alvin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, March 3, 2015 from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner.
