Shannon (Janes) Whaley

Shannon Janes Whaley, 55, of Goose Creek, SC, wife of Charles Michael Whaley of 26 years, entered into eternal rest on February 11, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born on June 8, 1967, in Charleston, SC, Shannon was a daughter of Charles Franklin Janes, Jr. and Mary Annette Hiott Janes.

A Laboratory Analyst for Giant Cement from 1997-2016, Shannon was a dedicated employee who loved her work family and was affectionately known as "lab mama". She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Shannon enjoyed raising her children, gardening, camping, boating, traveling, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person who thought of everyone before herself and for her ability to always pick the perfect gift and know exactly what everyone wanted or needed. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, and step-fathers- Philip "Curley" Madre of Cross and Jerry Owens of North Charleston, she is survived by two daughters- Jessica Marie Biggerstaff of Hanahan; Charley Whaley of Goose Creek; a son- Cooper Whaley of Goose Creek; two step-sons- C. Michael Whaley and his wife, Rune of North Charleston; Patrick Alan Whaley and his wife, Caroline of Moncks Corner; a grandchild- Cameron Carter; two step-grandchildren- Kaitlynn Mae and Sadie Grace Whaley; two sisters- Rachel Weaver and her husband, Howard of Hanahan; Tammy Brown of Hanahan; a brother- Charles "Jamie" Frank Janes, III and his wife, Regina of Hanahan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Erica Kaye Biggerstaff, only 5 days old; mother- Mary "Punkin" Annette Hiott Janes and father- Charles "Pops" Franklin Janes, Jr.

Her memorial service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel on Sunday afternoon, February 19, 2023, at 2 o’clock. The family will receive friends from 1 o’clock until the hour of service.
