Sarah Fleming Wells Thompson

December 10, 1922 — January 29, 2017

Sarah Fleming Wells Thompson, 94, of Bonneau, SC, first married to the late Lee Odis Wells, widow of Francis Earl Thompson, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family and friends on Sunday, January 29, 2017.

The family will receive friends before the service on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 1 o’clock at Bonneau Baptist Church. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 2 o’clock. Interment, Biggin Cemetery, Moncks Corner, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel.

Sarah was born December 10, 1922 in Alcolu, South Carolina, daughter of the late Fleetwood and Minnie Lou Sims Fleming. She was the retired owner of the Moncks Corner Flower Shop and Sarah’s Flowers and Gifts of Bonneau. She was the first FTD florist in Berkeley County. Sarah was a graduate of Manning High School. She was a member of Moncks Corner Baptist Church for many years before moving to Bonneau and joining the Bonneau Baptist Church. She served as Secretary of the Keen Club of Bonneau for several years, and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Eastern Star and a Mother advisor of the Rainbow girls, Berkeley Assembly Number 8. Sarah enjoyed cooking, designing flowers, and spending time with her family. She was known for her beautiful smile.


She is survived by her son, Wayne Odis Wells and his wife, Ursula, of Moncks Corner; daughters- Nancy Wells Gunnels LeCroy and her husband, Stewart, of Moncks Corner; Anne Wells Possenti of James Island; granddaughters- LeAnne Gunnels Floyd and her husband, John of Summerville; Sara Demrow Dent and her husband, Shawn, of West Newbury, Ma.; great grandson-Ian Demrow Dent; brother- Robert Ben Fleming and his wife, Patty, of Pinopolis; sister-in-law-Bonnie Anne Fleming of Moncks Corner; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters-Leola “Biddie” Mullis and Amanda Lee Fleming; brothers- Leon Fleming and Dewey Fleming.


The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers for all of their love and devotion- long term care giver- Helen Craven, Donna Craven, Sue Smalls, Tammy Smith, Tonia Hickman and her nurse Joan Wyndham.
