Russell Ellsworth Brumbaugh, 89, of Bonneau, widower of Julia Yamamoto Brumbaugh and Beatrice Judy Brumbaugh, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018.
Russell was born June 21, 1929, in Platte, South Dakota, a son of George E. Brumbaugh and Myrtle Buchtel Brumbaugh.
He served in the US Navy for over 20 years as an Electrician Mate Chief. While in the Navy, Russell served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member the American Legion, the Fleet Reserve Association and the First Baptist Church of Bonneau.
Surviving are two daughters- Ranetta England and her husband, Fred, of Virginia; Russlyn Kahl and her husband, Heinz, of Ohio; two sons- Ross E. “Rocky” Brumbaugh and his wife, Deborah, of Bonneau Beach; Craig Brumbaugh and his wife, Lorna, of Hawaii; three brothers- Donald Brumbaugh of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Roy Brumbaugh of Rapid City, South Dakota; William Brumbaugh, also of Rapid City, South Dakota; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Bonneau, Wednesday August 1, 2018 at 1 o’clock. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 o’clock until the hour of service.
