Ruby Whitted Atkins, 91, of Moncks Corner, a lifelong beautician and widow of Jennings “Mack” Atkins, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016.
Mrs. Ruby was born March 5, 1925, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a daughter of Miles Whitted and Pearl Ellen Reagan.
Mrs. Ruby was an active member of First Baptist Church, she was also a member of Daughters of the Nile, Kings Daughters, Speak Kindly Circle, and Faith Bible Class.
Surviving are a son- Norman L. Sires Jr., of Hollywood; a daughter- Ellen “Punky” Sires Nettles, of Walterboro; goddaughter- Cherra Caldwell of Union, Ky.; a sister- Helen Boothe, of Reynolds, Ga.; a special sister- Elma Gregory; five grandchildren- Norman L. “Trey” Sires III; Scott Sires; Allison Nettles Stanley; Ryan McCay; Jessica McCay; five great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. A very special couple Roger and Debbie McCay. She was predeceased by three sisters- Eula W. Bow; Gladys W. Lightsey; Odell Whitted; two brothers- Frank Whitted and William Whitted.
Her funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2016, at 2 o’clock. Interment will follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. The family will receive friends at the chapel, Wednesday evening, March 23, 2016 from 6 to 8 o’clock.
