Robert S. McKenzie, Sr., 73,of St. Matthews, formerly of Moncks Corner, died Monday, January 10, 2011, in Hospice Center of Charleston.
Robert was born April 8, 1937, in Camden, the son of Joseph S. McKenzie and Tina Lee Hartzog McKenzie.
He was a 1955 graduate of Berkeley High School, served his country in the Air Force, and was an air traffic controller for 30 years. After retiring, he was an FAA instructor at the University of Oklahoma for 3 years.
Surviving are his daughter - Tina Whittier and her husband, Rick, of Charlotte, N.C.; 2 sons - Robert S. McKenzie, Jr., of Georgia; and Tommy McKenzie and his wife, Tricia, of Charleston;
5 grandchildren - Zachary, Noah, Jackson, Patrick and Brooke; 2 great grandchildren - Jordan and McKenzie; 2 step daughters - Carol Seay and Lillian Skinner; 3 step grandchildren - Dorothy, Johnathan and Cindy.
His funeral service will be in RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Friday afternoon, January 14, 2011, at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Biggin Cemetery. Friends may call at Russell Funeral Chapel Thursday evening, January 13, between 6 and 8 o'clock.
