Robert L. Lipsey Sr., 93, of Moncks Corner, retired Boilermaker with Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Thursday, April 24, 2014. He was first married to the late Ethel Neal Lipsey and is the widower of Paula Radford Lipsey.
Robert was born July 9, 1920, in Norfolk, Va., the son of A. Madison Lipsey and Buleah Moore Lipsey.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of the Elks Lodge and attended Pointe North Community Church.
Surviving are; 2 sons- Robert L. Lipsey Jr. and his wife Sandra, of St. Stephen; Randall W. Lipsey and his wife Brenda, of Manning; a daughter- Marsha L. Marsh, of Moncks Corner; 7 grandchildren- Robert L. Lipsey III and his wife Tammy; Gary L. Lipsey and his wife Shannon; Shannon L. Knotts and her husband Bobby; Michael B. Lipsey; Randall W. Lipsey Jr. and his wife Jenny; Lena M. Corbin; and Billy Joe(Joey)Marsh Jr.; 13 great grand children; and 3 great, great grand children.
Mr. Lipsey’s funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2014, at 2 o’clock in RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel this Saturday evening, between the hours of 5 and 7 o’clock.
