Richard Allen Callahan

Richard Allen Callahan, 70, of Moncks Corner, widower of Charlene Callahan, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018.

Richard was born December 21, 1947, in Biloxi, Mississippi at the Keesler Air Force Base, son of the late Elijah L. Callahan, Jr. and Doris Elaine Allen Callahan.

A retired pipefitter with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Richard was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church in Summerville and VFW #9509. He served with the US Air Force during Vietnam and retired from the Army National Guard.

He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed camping, working in his yard, “piddling” in his shed, Westerns and sweet tea. He will be sadly missed.

Surviving are daughters- Amy Domainque and her husband, Jim, of Springfield, MA; Jennifer Martin and her husband, Stacy, of Moncks Corner; Sheri Callahan of Springfield, MA; Crystal Rose of Moncks Corner; Kiley White and her husband, Jim, of Moncks Corner; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters- Cassie Simpson and her husband, Ken, of Summerville; Sarah McMichael of Columbia; Katherine Lawhorn and her husband, Dennis, of Summerville and a brother- Elijah “Sonny” Callahan III, and his wife, Nancy, of Greenville.

A memorial service will be held 2 o’clock Friday, March 16, at Russell Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 1 o’clock until the hour of service.
