Richard “Sam” Bryant, 82, of Moncks Corner, widower of Catherine Mason Bryant, passed away November 3, 2014, in Charleston, S.C.
Sam was born January 29, 1932, in Portsmouth, Va., son of William A. Bryant Sr. and Henrietta Cribb Brandon.
He had retired after 20 years as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic. Sam was an Army Veteran
having served in Vietnam and Korea.
Surviving are a son – Richard “Rick” Bryant Jr. and his wife, Misty, of Georgetown; three daughters - Cathy Bryant Gatchel and her husband,
Bobby, of North Charleston; Hazel Bryant Hamilton and her husband, Chuck, of Summerville; and Susan “Vinnie” Scampini and her husband, Albert, of Moncks Corner; a sister- Anne Carter of Johns Island; 11 grandchildren- Ricky Melvin Rochester; Branden Gatchel; Kate Bryant Smith and her husband, Graham; Mason Rochester Milstead and her husband, Terry; Causey Scampini; James Shore; Austin Scampini; Matty Bryant; Thomas Scampini; Hannah Rose Bryant; and Hayden Bryant; 3 great grandchildren - Brody Miles; Lexi Milstead; and Junior Milstead. He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, and two brothers - Wiliam A. Bryant and John Wesley Bryant.
The funeral service for Sam will be held in Russell Funeral Chapel Saturday morning, November 8, 2014, at 11 o'clock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 o'clock until the hour of service. Interment will be in Lebanon United Methodist Church in Scotia, S.C. Saturday afternoon at 2:30.
