Rev. Helon Hollis Phillips, 88, of Cordesville, SC, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was married to William P. Phillips, Jr. for 51 years before his passing.
Born on September 4, 1934, in Marianna, Florida, Helon was the daughter of the late Chester W. Hollis and Elvie Brock.
A retired minister of the South Carolina I.P.H. Conference, and founder of Pioneer Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mrs. Phillips received her education at Christian Bible Class where she studied under Dr. Corbin in 1978. She was a loving person who enjoyed helping others in any way she could. Helon enjoyed sewing and quilting, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
Surviving are two sons- John William Phillips and his wife, Martha of Bluffton, SC; Rev. Dale B. Phillips and his wife, Kathleen of Bowman, SC; one daughter- Sandria Phillips and her husband, Barry Pafford of Inman, SC; one daughter-in-law- Tobie Phillips of Santee, SC; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sisters - Sonja J. Mulligen and Martha Benson, a brother- Tommy Hollis, and her son- Richard D. Phillips.
Her funeral service will be held at Pioneer Pentecostal Holiness Church, Friday afternoon, October 7, 2022, at 4 o’clock. Interment will follow in Pioneer P.H. Church Cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 o’clock until the hour of service.
