Rennie M. “Sonny” Singletary, 83, of Moncks Corner, retired Postmaster at Cross, S.C., husband of
Miriam Risher Singletary, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in a Charleston Hospital.
Sonny was born January 29, 1927, in Berkeley County, the son of Rennie Middleton Singletary and Williewiete Godfrey Singletary.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are 2 sons- R.M. Singletary, III and his wife Michele, of Daniel Island; Michael D. Singletary and his wife, Margaret,
of Moncks Corner; a daughter- Cindy S. Rios of Cross; a sister- Allie Jones of Orlando, FL; a brother- Farrell Singletary and his wife, Josephine,
of Pinopolis; 5 grandchildren- Christine S. Muller, Matthew Singletary, Michelle Singletary, Drew Davis and Scott Davis.
He was a member of Black Creek United Methodist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Past State Commander of the
American Legion; had served as a National Executive Committeeman; and served at various levels of state, district and local posts; a
member of Cross American Legion Post 157. He had also been Chief of the Cross Fire Department.
His funeral service will be Friday afternoon, September 24, 2010, at 1 o’clock in RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner.
Interment will be in Black Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Russell Funeral Chapel this Thursday
evening, between the hours of 6 and 8 o’clock.
