Ralph “Peter Rabbit” Romell Thomas, 81, of North Charleston, husband of Patricia Thornley Thomas, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Ralph was born July 6, 1941, in Huger, SC, the son of Lester Thomas and Bertie Morris Thomas.
Ralph was a devoted husband of 58 years; a loving father and a member of New Life Baptist Church. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, and after receiving his Associate’s Degree from Trident Technical College, Ralph worked as a Planner/Scheduler for SCE&G where he retired after 35 years. He was a master craftsman and in his spare time, he built mantels for the grand fireplaces in the historic homes of downtown Charleston. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all time spent with family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter- Melanie Renee Thomas of North Charleston; a son- D.C. Thornley, Jr. of North Charleston; two grandchildren- Hailey and Hunter Thornley; a brother- Donnie Thomas of Huger; a sister- Shirley Gowdy and her husband, Lee of Lexington, SC.
His funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Saturday morning, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 o’clock. Interment will follow in Thornley Cemetery, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10 o’clock until the hour of service.
