Precious Carter Gregory

Precious Carter Gregory, 84, of Moncks Corner, widow of Robert F. Gregory, Sr., passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Hospice of Charleston.

Precious was born in Charleston on November 26, 1929, daughter of Briley H. Carter and Gladys Halshall Carter.

She was a graduate of Memminger High School and attended Rice Business College. Precious and Bob were married in 1950 and opened the Dock Restaurant in Moncks Corner in 1959. As an active member of the community, Precious was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and a leader of the Brownies and Girl Scouts, as well as serving as a member and Past President of the Berkeley Ladies Shrine Club. She and Bob were members of the USS BALCH and USS PORTERFIELD Union Associations, and they went to numerous reunions throughout the fifty states. They were also members of the USS STRONG Association. She was a long-time member of Pinopolis United Methodist Church and had served as past president of the United Methodist Women.

Surviving are three sons – Robert F. “Bobby” Gregory, Jr., and his wife, Lynn: James Kenneth Gregory, and his wife, Sandra; and Claude D. Gregory; a daughter – Linda Holbrook and her husband, Lee , six grandsons – James Gregory and his wife, Kearney; Robby Gregory and his wife, Kerstin; Kyle Gregory; Kendell Mahon, Jr.; Matthew Gregory and Austin Gregory; two granddaughters – Katy Mahon; and Lasey Gregory; three great grandchildren – Ashlyn, Anna Lee; and Hagen Gregory; a sister – Jeanne C. Bedsole; sister-in-law – Sara Platt, and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at Pinopolis United Methodist Church, Tuesday morning, April 8, 2014 at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in BIGGIN CEMETERY, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Monday evening between 6 and 8 o’clock.
