Paul Gonya, 74, passed away at his home in Cross, on January 30, 2013.
Paul was born November 15, 1938, in Manhattan (the Bronx), New York, a son of Henry Gonya and Florence Lang Gonya.
He was a retired Chief in the U.S. Navy and served for more than 50 years with the Fleet Reserve. After retiring from the Navy, he was employed as an electrician at Santee Cooper Cross Generating Station for a number of years. Very active in civic activities, he was a member
of Hammerton Lodge, Omar Shrine, and Eutawville Flyers Club.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Markgraf Gonya; a son - Michael Gonya of Summerville; a daughter - Judy Gonya Sanders of Summerville; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A private memorial service in his honor will be at a later date.
