Raymond Paul Arbaugh, known affectionately as Paul, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, in Summerville, SC. Born on July 27, 1942, in Tazewell Co, Virginia, to the late James Raymond Arbaugh and Vivian Yates Arbaugh, Paul lived a life full of service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Paul was a devoted husband to Sandra Collins Arbaugh for 49 cherished years. He was a proud father to his son, Robert, and a doting grandfather to Harley Murphy and Savanna Middleton. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Maynard, and her husband, Steve.
Paul served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he began his career at Henry Lee Distributors, later moving to Pearlstine Distributors. Upon retirement, he continued to work as a truck driver with the Port of Charleston until the age of 75, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to his community.
Paul was an avid golfer and a member of the Berkeley Country Club. He was also very active with the Shriners and Omar Directors Staff, contributing significantly to their charitable work. A dedicated Gamecock football fan, Paul never missed a home game in Columbia, displaying his unwavering support and enthusiasm.
Paul's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his commitment to his community. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His spirit, love, and legacy will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
Paul's memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 11, 6 PM, at Russell Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends for one hour prior, from 5 - 6 PM.
