Osborne Legrand Morris

Osborne Legrand Morris, 86, of Moncks Corner, retired Police Chief of Moncks Corner, first married to the late JoAnn Pew Morris and husband of Nancy Gehl Morris, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

He was born September 29, 1929, in Berkeley County, son of Robert McNeil Morris and Marie Wyndham Morris.

Osborne was a 1947 graduate of Macedonia High School where he was well known as a football player and a skilled hunter. After graduating, he joined the US Army and served with the Military Police for two years in Germany. Following discharge from the Army, he held several positions in law enforcement for the state of Arizona. He returned to Moncks Corner where he not only served as Chief of Police for five years, but also as Bishop in the Moncks Corner Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons- Daniel R. Morris and his wife, Bobbi, of Moncks Corner; Larry L. Morris and his wife, Darcine, of Queen Creek Az.; three daughters- Kathy J. Allen and her husband, Gerald, of West Valley City, Utah; Elaine Wright of Mesa, Az.; and Susan Robinson of Summerville; four sisters-Daisy Lou Orr and her husband, Vern; Sandra Carter; Elnora Wimmer and her husband, Stanley; Linda Larson and her husband, Ron; two brothers- Wendall Morris and his wife, Charlene; John Morris and his wife, Sue; two step daughters-Elizabeth Gehl; Maria Kicklighter and her husband, Jimbo; a step son- Mark Gehl and his wife, Beth; twenty three grandchildren; and forty great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Moncks Corner, Friday morning, October 16, 2015 at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Biggin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Thursday evening, October 15, 2015 from 6 until 8 o’clock.
