Nell (Mccaskill) Dennis

February 6, 1935 — April 27, 2021

Lois Nell McCaskill Dennis, 86, of Bonneau passed away Tuesday April 27, 2021.

Nell was born February 6, 1935 in McBee, South Carolina, the only daughter of Neil McCaskill and Eva Gardener McCaskill.

Known to be a hard worker and “never still”, as a young wife and mother, Nell plowed fields, raised chickens and churned butter among many other jobs. She attended nursing school and worked with the US Postal Service for over 30 years. She graduated magna cum laude from Charleston Southern University, with a Bachelor’s degree in business, allowing her to move up to Post Master, holding that position in Bonneau, St. Stephen, Cross and McClellanville.

Nell was the owner of D & S Construction of Pineville, Inc. and a member of Bonneau Baptist Church where she taught The Ladies Sunday School class for many years. She was world traveled, having visited The Holy Land, The Great Wall of China, Scotland and Ireland, just to name a few. She was an amazing woman, loving mother and grandmother, leaving her family many fond memories.

Surviving are a son- Richard “Rick” Dennis and his wife, Sherry, of Bonneau; a daughter- Gwen Stritch and her husband, Michael, of Saluda, NC; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Nell is predeceased by 5 brothers- Jack, Rex, Billy, Jimmy and Bobby McCaskill.

Her graveside service will be held in the Dennis Family Cemetery, 236 Dennis Ridge Road, Bonneau, SC 29431, Monday May 3, 2021 at 2 o’clock. There will be a receiving of friends at the Dennis Home, 232 Dennis Ridge Road, from 12:30 until the hour of service and continuing after the interment. Russell Funeral Chapel is honored to be serving the Dennis family.
