Maxine McRoy Batchelor of Pinopolis died Sunday May 30, 2021 at her home.
Maxine was born April 5, 1934 in St. Stephen, S.C., the daughter of Linly Maxie McRoy and Rowena Wingard-Keller
She was a member of Pinopolis United Methodist Church where she served on several committees. A graduate of Meredith College, Maxine taught school for over 30 years. She ended her career as an educator when she retired as Headmistress of Lord Berkeley Academy in 1987.
Maxine was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, William M. Batchelor, Jr.; her parents; her brother- Wyman D. McRoy and her son in law- Bruce Howard.
Surviving are three children- Denise (Daron); Stephen (Arlene) and Michelle; five grandchildren- Kaitlyn Howard, Evan Howard, Keith Howard, Francesca Batchelor and William Batchelor; three great grandchildren- Camilla, Leyla and Stefan Batchelor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinopolis United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, PO Box 521, Pinopolis, SC 29469 or Pediatric Burns Unit of the Shriners Hospital for Children.
A memorial service will be held at the Pinopolis United Methodist Church, Wednesday morning, June 16, 2021 at 11 o'clock. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 o'clock until the hour of service, masks will be required. Burial will be private.
