Maude Bradwell Flood

October 13, 1921 — June 3, 2018

Maude Bradwell Flood, age 96, died surrounded by family, at the Presbyterian Village of Summerville at 1:02 pm June 3, 2018. She was the widow of Augustus McDonald Flood, Jr., married for 54 years.

Mrs. Flood was born on October 13, 1921 in Cross, SC to Isaac and Rosalie Bradwell. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner.

At the age of 15, she graduated from Cross High School and attended Furman University, along with her beloved brother and sister. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and History. During her time at Furman, she played in the marching band and on the Basketball Team. She began her teaching career at the age of 19 and taught for thirty eight years in the Macedonia School System, she coached basketball and led Beta Club for Macedonia High School. She was inducted into the Berkeley County Hall of Legends as a first year recipient of that award.

During her retirement she traveled all fifty states and went on extensive trips throughout the world with her husband and family. Her favorite destination was walking where Jesus walked in Jerusalem. She enjoyed many years at her home on Hickory Hill Plantation in Bonneau, SC.

Surviving are three children- Augustus McDonald Flood III and his wife, Debra, of Moncks Corner; Claudette Flood McCall and her husband, Bill, of Pinopolis; Angela Flood Smith and her husband, Carter, of Lyman, SC; eight grandchildren- Roger Dane Rutland, Lisa Rutland Winningham, Augustus McDonald Flood IV, Jennifer McCall Hutson, William Drayton McCall, Ronald Carter Smith, Jr., Sarah Smith White and John Bradwell McCall and fifteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother- Claudius Garnet “Buster” Bradwell and a sister- Angelina Bradwell West.

The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and volunteers at the Village for all the wonderful care and love that they have poured into her life. A special thanks to her Chaplin and dear friend Achim Daffin. Also a special thanks to Agape Hospice Group for their care.

Her funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner, Wednesday afternoon, June 6, 2018, at 3 o’clock. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Friendship United Methodist Church in Cross, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel.
