BROWDER, Marion Sullivan, 94, of Moncks Corner, Army veteran of World War II, retired painter from Charleston Naval Shipyard, and husband of Letha Ried Browder, died March 31, 2012, in Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston.
Mr. Browder was born November 13, 1917, in Sumter, S.C., son of James W. Browder and Julia Barfield Browder.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 34th Division under General Mark Clark, serving in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of VFW Post 5091 in North Charleston.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters – Terry Wheatley of Moncks Corner; and Julia B. Turner and her husband, Joel, of Moncks Corner; a brother – Butler Browder; a sister – JoAnn Eubanks; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held in RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, MONCKS CORNER, Tuesday afternoon, April 3, 2012, at 1 o’clock. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park in North Charleston. The family will receive friends at Russell funeral Chapel Monday evening between 6 and 8 o’clock.
