Lynda (Wiggins) Martin

November 2, 1946 — February 13, 2023

Lynda Wiggins Martin, 76, of Macedonia, SC, wife of Ronald Martin, passed away on February 13, 2023, in her home surrounded by family. She will be remembered for her kindness to all in need and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Born on November 2, 1946, in Moncks Corner, SC, Lynda was a daughter of the late Gilbert Walter Wiggins and Sadie Dehay Wiggins. She graduated from Walterboro High School and later continued her education in nursing school where she received her LPN degree.

Lynda married the love of her life, Ronald Martin, on May 14, 1976. They spent over four decades growing together and enjoyed the life they created, including raising three children.

She spent her career working for Berkeley County, including the South Carolina Forestry Commission as a fire tower and dispatch operator, Berkeley High School Cafeteria, the Library & Bookmobile, and later retired from the County Permitting Department.  In her free time, she loved gardening, fishing, shopping, traveling to the mountains and ocean, and trying out new recipes as she was a wonderful southern cook, but most of all she loved taking care of her family.

In addition to her husband, Lynda is survived by her daughter- Tammie Mallard of Macedonia; two sons- James Martin of Macedonia; Todd Martin and his wife, Crystal of Moncks Corner; six grandchildren- Joshua and Kaitlin Gilley, Emma and Garrett Martin, and Brooke and Marshall Shuler; two great-grandchildren- Cayden Gowan and Brooks Gilley; and a sister- Sadie Odom of Summerville.

Her funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Friday morning, February 17, 2023, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the chapel on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 6:00- 8:00 pm.
