Lydia B. Lankford, 54, of Pinopolis, wife of William Michael (Mike) Lankford, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her home after a brief illness.
Lydia was born on January 23, 1960, in West Palm Beach, FL, the daughter of Thomas D. Benton and Lee Cooper Benton. She was a staff trainer for Victorious Ministry Through Christ, led worship, and was an assistant with 100 Fold Life Ministry. A Daughter of the King, Lydia was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Pinopolis where she had previously served as Director of Music Ministries for many years.
An accomplished pianist and organist, Lydia played with many church and community groups, having begun her music ministry at the age of 12.
Lydia was a 2013 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Charleston Southern University and was a current student at Columbia International University.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter Katelyn M. Lankford, of Columbia; a son William M. Lankford Jr. of Moncks Corner; 2 sisters- Mary Kennedy and Billie Jean Dillon; 2 brothers- Thomas M. Benton and Joe M. Honeycutt. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert Benton.
Lydia’s memorial service will be held Friday morning, May 2, 2014, at 11 o’clock, in Trinity Episcopal Church, Pinopolis. Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium at Trinity Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends for a celebration of Lydia’s life afterwards in the Parish Hall.
