Leon E Mitchum

Reverend Leon E. Mitchum, 79, of Moncks Corner, retired minister of the South Carolina Pentecostal Holiness Church Conference, and retired welder with WestVaCo, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, at home.

Reverend Mitchum was born March 6, 1928, in Berkeley County, a son of John W. Mitchum, Sr., and Inez Mills Mitchum.

He was a member of the Moncks Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was loved dearly and respected by his wife, family, friends and community.

Surviving are his wife, Lois M. Mitchum; daughter - Dene M. Kinsey of Mt. Pleaant; son - Daniel Mitchum of Raleigh, N.C.; son-in-law - Roy Kinsey of Mt. Pleasant; brother - John W. Mitchum, Jr., of Cross; four sisters - Ernestine M. King of Bonneau; Laverne M. (Tootsie) Cribb of Georgeown; Beverly Stone of Bonneau; Edith Branton of Bonneau; two Grandchildren - Alyssa Dene Kinsey and Jacob Mitchum Kinsey, both of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service was held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, November 14, 2007, in Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial was in Berkeley Memorial Gardens, directed by Russell Funeral Chapel of Moncks Corner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 209 Newell Street, Moncks Corner, S. C. 29461.
