Marlin Leon Goldman, 72, of Cordesville, retired U.S. Navy Master Chief, husband of Doris Hauglie Goldman, died Friday evening at his residence.

He was born September 4, 1937, at Lincolnton, GA., a son of Walter Hogan Goldman and Sallie Mae Powell Goldman.

Leon was a member of Pioneer Pentecostal Holiness Church. During what was to be an outstanding military career, he served on U.S Navy destroyers during the Vietnam Era, and later as 3-M System Coordinator on the USS MOOSEBURGER DD-980.His Twilight Tour was Chief in Charge of Short Stay Navy Recreation Area. He was member of the VFW Post in Lincolnton, GA.

Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son - Ronald Goldman and his wife, Janet, of Honolulu, Hawaii; a daughter – Joy Lynn Hutto and her husband, George, of Goose Creek; son- Eugene Hill and his wife, Sharon of Cordesville;daughter- Karen Lynn Pruitt of Cross; and son- Timothy W. Hill of Cordesville; 2 brothers – Bruce Goldman and his wife, Mary, of Indiana; Bernard Goldman of Atlanta, GA; 4 sisters – Clarice Bates of N. Augusta; Mary Krull of Hollywood, CA; Gail Looney and her husband, Jacky, of Ila GA; Anita Paradise and her husband, J.T., of Lincolnton, GA; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

His funeral service will be Monday, afternoon, August 16, 2010, at 2 o’clock in Pioneer Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment with military honors will be in the church cemetery directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. Family and friends may call at the church from 12 noon until the hour of service.
