Harley Lavonn Thomas, 72, of Jamestown, husband of Ruth Thomas, died Wednesday in a Charleston hospital.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow at Halfway Creek Cemetery in Honey Hill, S.C. Friends may call at Russell Funeral Chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday evening.
Mr. Thomas was born February 3, 1937 in Huger, S.C., a son of Alfred Lester Thomas and Bertie Morris Thomas. He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Thomas was serving his second term on the Jamestown Town Council.
Surviving including his wife, are: 1 son, Mike Thomas and his wife, Wanda of Shulerville; 1 daughter, Martha Lynn Todd and her husband, Randy of Cottageville; 2 step-sons, Donnie Britt and his wife, Jodie of Missoulla, MT and Marty Britt and his wife, Tammy of Jamestown; 2 step-daughters, Jackie (Morning Glory) Cooper and her husband, Roy of Honey Hill and Becky Britt of Jamestown; 4 brothers - Ralph Thomas and his wife, Patricia, of North Charleston, Harry Thomas and his wife, Bonnie of Bethera, Donnie Thomas and his wife, Myra Faye, of Huger and Daniel Thomas and his wife, Sherry, of Huger; 2 sisters - Juanita Lance and her husband J.D. of Henersonville, N.C. and Shirley Gowdy and her husband, Lee, of Lexington; also, a "special friend", Foxy and a "special daughter", Melissa Fort; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
