Born on January 4, 1928, in Sumter, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Elbert Hubbard and Eunice Antley Hubbard. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and selfless dedication to her family and faith.

Lou first shared her life with the late William L. Shipley Sr. and later found happiness with her surviving husband, Elwood G. Housand. The legacy of her love is carried on by her devoted children, Gwen Cammons (James), sons Bill Shipley (Millie), Bob Shipley, and Brian Shipley (Marla); her brother Alan Hubbard (Becky); her step-children, Lynn Evans (Tommy), Gail Hay (Billy), Kevin Housand (Patricia), and Greg Housand (Cherie); along with her adored six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death not only by her parents but also by her brother Bert Hubbard.

A longtime active member of the Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, she continued her faith journey at Bethany United Methodist Church after moving to Summerville.
