Kenneth G Pennington

Kenneth G. Pennington, D.M.D, 86, of Pinopolis, a practicing dentist in Berkeley County for over 50 years, husband of Helen Bachlott Pennington, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011.

Born in Pennington Gap, Virginia, November 12, 1924, he was the son of Elver Pennington and Martha Cress Pennington.

Dr. Pennington was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Pinopolis, having served as Junior Warden and Senior Warden, He was very active in his community as a Mason; Life Member of the American Legion Post 126; past member of the Board of Visitors at MUSC; Board member of the Berkeley County Aeronautics Commission and Lifetime member of the Hagen Hunt Club.

He was a member of the S.C. Dental Association; the American Dental Association; the Berkeley County Medical Society and former member of the Charleston Dental Society.

A World War II veteran, Dr. Pennington served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an Aircraft Commander of B-17s and B-29s.

He enjoyed flying his Cessna 210; working on his John Deere tractor; wood turning; hunting and fishing. His biggest passions in life were his family, friends and good conversation.

Surviving in addition to this wife of Pinopolis; are a daughter – Lisa P. Montgomery of Johns Island, SC; a sister – Annette P. Walden of Pineville, KY; brother-in-law – William J. Allen of Lexington, KY; nieces – Jane A Hudson and her husband, Joseph, of Lexington, KY; and Annette Allen of Brandenburg, KY; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a younger sister – Mary Alice Allen of Lexington, KY.

A service celebration of Dr. Pennington’s life was held in Pinopolis Trinity Episcopal Church Saturday morning, May 7, 2011, at 11 o’clock, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner.
