Kenneth W. Hill

Kenneth W. Hill, 85, of Moncks Corner, founder of Hill Tire Centers, husband of Betty Jean Bunch Hill, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016.

Kenneth was born August 7, 1930, in Asheville, North Carolina, a son of Walker Watson Hill and Katherine Swainey Hill.

Kenneth graduated from Berkeley High School in 1949, one of the first 12th grade graduating classes in South Carolina. He and Betty Jean married in 1953 and raised their four children in Moncks Corner, enjoying their church family, community, neighbors and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner for over 50 years and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. He spent his last years as an active member of Grace Community Baptist Church. Kenneth was a member of the Moncks Corner Lions Club and Volunteer Fire Department.

He deeply loved his grandchildren and treasured spending time with them-fishing, hunting, attending sporting events, as well as laughing and sharing stories of his life.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children- Ken Hill and his wife, Vicki, of Walterboro; Chris Hill and his wife, Lisa, of Moncks Corner; Cathy Hill Starr of Charleston and Joey Hill and his wife, Margaret, of Edisto; a brother- Larry Walker Hill and his wife, Carolyn; a sister- Frances Hill Willis; thirteen grandchildren- Michael Hill and his wife, Melinda; Kendall Hill and his wife, Rebecca; Matthew Hill and his wife, Emily; Marshall Hill and his wife, Jessie; Preston Furr and his wife, Lindsey; Jonathan Hill and his wife, Lonna; Alex Figueroa and her husband, David; Corey Furr; Ashley Wrenn and her husband, Blake; Zack Hill; Stephanie Hill; Madeline Hill and Olivia Hill; seven great grandchildren- Brooklyn Hill; Baylor Hill; Cooper Wrenn; Reese Hill; Rhen Hill; Melody Hill; Emma Grace Hill.

He was predeceased by two brothers- Robert Hill and Don Hill and three sisters- Doris Hill Von Mutius; Barbara Ann Hill Tansey and Marion Hill Smith.

His funeral service will be held at Grace Community Baptist Church, Saturday afternoon, February 20, 2016, at 2 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Johns Baptist Church cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the chapel Friday evening, February 19, 2016 between 5 and 7 o’clock.
