Keith Ray Smith

Keith Ray Smith, 69, of Moncks Corner, widower of Christy Roberta Smith, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Keith was born January 11, 1948 in Berkeley County, a son of Relma T. Smith and Wilbur C. Hill Smith.

After retiring from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Keith became an instructor at Trident Technical College. He was the current Battalion Chief of the Moncks Corner Rural Fire Department and owned and operated Moncks Corner Heating and Air. Keith had also served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Masonic Lodge 269, Moncks Corner. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by many but especially his fur companion and loyal pet, Itty.

Surviving are a daughter-Jacqueline Cooper and her fiance, Chris Onezine, of Moncks Corner; a granddaughter- Lauryn Cooper of Moncks Corner; a brother- Jimmie Smith and his wife, Pat, of Moncks Corner; a nephew- Teddy Smith of Moncks Corner. He was predeceased by his wife, parents and a sister- Dorothy “Dot” Singletary.

His funeral service, with full Firefighters honors, will be held at First Christian Church, Moncks Corner, Friday morning, July 14, 2017, at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow in Rudd Branch Cemetery in Lebanon, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL. The family will receive friends at First Christian Church Thursday evening, July 13, 2017 from 5 to 7 o’clock.
