Judson Fred Crosby, 89, of Moncks Corner, retired employee of WestVaCo who served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II era, passed away Saturday, November 3, at his residence.
Mr. Fred was born November 6, 1922 in Hampton County, a son of Judson W. Crosby and Honoree Mole Crosby.
He was a member of St. John’s Bethel Baptist Church. Known as a “hard-working man” who loved his family very much, his many interests included – gardening, fishing, hunting, NASCAR races, and camping with friends.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Lela Mae North Crosby; 5 children – Tholan Crosby, and his wife, Tessie, of Corpus Christi, TX; Glen Crosby (Wanda), of Moncks Corner; Marlo Infinger of Goose Creek; Ronald Crosby and his wife, Lisa, of Moncks Corner; 11 grandchildren – Wade and Mike Crosby; Troy Infinger; Billy Crosby; Larry Infinger; Josh Crosby; Roxanne Goodwin; Alyssa Crosby; Tammy Lundstrom; Tracie Alexander; and Tricia DaSilva; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; 3 brothers – Laverne Crosby of Varnville; Hillard Crosby and Donnie Crosby, both of Early Branch; 2 sisters – Bessie G. Johnson of N. Charleston; and Nell C. Hadwin of Varnville. He was preceded in death by a son – Gene Crosby and his wife, Lynn; son-in-law, Jim Infinger; sister – Irma C. Rentz; and brother – Rogers Crosby.
His funeral service will be held on this 90th birthday, at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Tuesday afternoon, November 6, 2012, at 2 o’clock. Interment will follow in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL Monday evening, November 5, 2012, between 6 and 8 o’clock.
