Joyce Lafay Griggs Atkinson

Joyce Lafay Griggs Atkinson, 72, of Moncks Corner, wife of Albert Atkinson, Jr., died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at her residence

Mrs. Atkinson was born on September 23, 1938 in Hartsville, SC, the daughter of Gary W. Griggs and Annie Viola Johnson Griggs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Moncks Corner; a member of LowCountry VW Club and a supporter of Moncks Corner 4-H Club.

Survivors including her husband, are: three daughters; Zanell L. Pritchard and her husband Mike of Summerville, Cindy L. Thomas and her husband Olin E. (Tom) of Moncks Corner and Jo Dale Lydick and her husband, Ralph, of Poulsbo, WA; one brother, Carlvin Griggs and his wife, Marguerite of Nixa, MO; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren, . She was predeceased by one sister, Barbra Jean Griggs.

The funeral service for Mrs. Atkinson will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Moncks Corner directed by RUSSELL fUNERAL CHAPEL. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in the Florence National Cemetery in Florence, SC.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
