Joseph R. Edens

Joseph Rodman Edens, 93, of Summerville, widower of Margaret Williams Murray Edens, died Sunday, January 17, 2016.

Mr. Edens was born October 18, 1922, in Berkeley County, son of Hughleon Thomas Edens and Ruth Welch Edens Keller.

He was a 22 year Coast Guard retiree and a retired equipment maintenance supervisor at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. Edens was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Berkeley T Modelers,
VFW Post #10256 in Goose Creek as well as American Legion #126.

Surviving are a step-son- Mark W. Murray and his wife, Jimmie Kaye of Jamestown; grandson- Gregg Murray and his wife, Beth, of Jamestown; granddaughter- Tonya Wagner and her husband, Jeff, of Moncks Corner; great granddaughter- Hailey Kaye Tolson; many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held at Russell Funeral Chapel, Wednesday afternoon, January 20, 2016, at 1 o’clock. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12 noon until the hour of service.
