Johnny Carlisle Scott, known affectionately to friends and family as Johnny, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024, at the age of 77, in Moncks Corner, S.C. Born on November 29, 1946, in Summerville, S.C., he was the son of the late Carlisle Scott and Cora Benton Scott.

A beloved husband and family man, Johnny is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Rusher Scott, and their children, Amy Hedgpeth (Troy), Justin Rusher (Don), and Jolene Scott. His legacy extends through his grandchildren, Michael Bolmer (Jen), Peyton Groves, Jodeci Helms (Matt), and Breanna Mobley (Jason); as well as his great-grandchildren, Phoenix Bolmer, Memphis Bolmer, Nathan Helms, Maverick Sponaugle, and one on the way. He will be remembered by his sisters, Bonnie Miles and JoEllen Chester (Gerald). Johnny joins his parents and siblings, Clarence T. Risher, Tommy Friendly, Barbara Ann Coffee, and Capers "Billy" Scott, who predeceased him.

Throughout his career, Johnny was a dedicated insurance agent, a profession that reflected his caring nature and commitment to helping others.

Those who knew Johnny understood his passion for life. He was an avid reader of Westerns and Navy Seal books, and his weekends were often spent watching NASCAR races. A simple joy for Johnny was mowing his lawn, a task through which he found tranquility and contentment. Above all, Johnny’s heart was most full when he was surrounded by his family.
