Jimmy Scott Shepherd, Sr.

January 23, 1934 — May 29, 2015

Mr. Jimmy Scott Shepherd Sr., 81, of Moncks Corner, passed away Friday morning May 29, 2015, at his home. Jimmy was born January 23, 1934 in Monroe, AR., to the late David R. Shepherd and Minnie Clarabelle Scott Shepherd. He married his late wife Adela Bunch Shepherd, December 22, 1956. They shared 36 years of happiness together before her death August 22, 1993.

Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner where he served many years as a deacon. He served over 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant, in May of 1973. He also retired from the Moncks Corner Post Office.

Jimmy loved his family and his church. He enjoyed college sports, especially those Gamecocks, and he never missed a sporting event that his children or grandchildren participated in. He also enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.

Surviving are 3 sons and a daughter- Scott Shepherd and his wife, Lynne, of Pinopolis;
Jeff Shepherd and his wife, Anna, of Greer; Mark Shepherd and his wife, Alison, of Moncks Corner; Amy Lawrence and her husband, Joe, of Moncks Corner; 5 grandsons- Brian Shepherd, Travis Lawrence, Kyle Shepherd, Jake Lawrence, and Hunter Shepherd; 3 granddaughters- Casey Finley, Elizabeth Mills, and Tory Settle; 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and siblings- Mary, Robert, Nellie, Eunice, Mable, Maxine, Melvina, Junior, Lloyd, and Thelma.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Mr. Jimmy’s caregivers- Bonnie, Yvonne, Carolyn and Nurse Judy.

His funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Moncks Corner, Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2015, at 4 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Johns Baptist Church cemetery directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel Saturday evening May 30, 2015 from 6 to 8 o’clock.
