J. B. Hood, 86, of St. Stephen, owner of Hood Insurance and Realty Company of St. Stephen, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, in a Charleston hospital.
J. B. was born July 14, 1929, in Summervile, S.C., son of Connie Hood and Otlee Floyd Hood.
He was a graduate of Macedonia High School, a member of Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge; a Shriner; member of Moncks Corner Lions Club; member of American Legion Post No. 62; member of First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner; and a former member of the Berkeley County Election Commission.
J. B. was first married to Olivia Russell Hood and was the widower of Lois Sage Hood. Surviving are two daughters – Marlene H. Lynes of Moncks Corner and Patty H. Thompson and her husband, John, of Bonneau; 11 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son – Bert Hood; his daughter – Terry H. Springs; and his step daughter – Debra Saturday.
His funeral service will be held at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner, Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2015 at 1 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Episcopal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL Monday evening, December 28, between 6 and 8 o’clock.
