Janet F. Lesesne, 74 of Pineville, widow of CAPT William Edgar Lesesne, Jr., died Wednesday, August 10, 2011, in Charleston

Mrs. Lesesne was born March 23, 1937, in New Haven, CT, the daughter of John Henry Riotte and Evelyn Stout Riotte.

She was a member of Belle Isle Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully played the piano for many years, after teaching herself to play at 61 years of age. She was a master seamstress, and became an avid runner in her mid 40’s, running until she was no longer able . A member of the St. Stephen Garden Club, she also served as a Guardian ad Litem for Berkeley County.

Surviving are her son – William E. Lesesne III of Pineville; her daughter – Michelle L. DeSantis and her husband, Mark, of Charleston; a granddaughter – Olivia Couturier DeSantis of Charleston; a sister – Katherine Bishop of Niantic, CT; a brother - Gordon Riotte of Niantic, CT; two brothers-in-law – Elias E. Lesesne and Peter C. Lesesne; a sister-in-law - Margaret Ross.

Her funeral service will be held in Belle Isle Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon, August 15, 2011, at 2 o’clock. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moncks Corner.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 1064 Gardner Road, Charleston, S.C. 29407, or to the charity of one’s choice.
