James, better known as Jimmy Lee or Big Dog, was born in Bedford, England on November 21, 1960. He was loved by everyone who crossed his path and never met a stranger. No matter where he went, he always saw someone he knew, he never forgot a face or a name. His number one priority and most cherished treasures were his two daughters and five grandbabies. Everyone who knew him knew that they were his purpose. He never went a day without seeing or talking to them and asking “Y’all cooking anything?”. He spent 33 years as a cast house operator working for Century Aluminum (formerly Alcoa/ Alumax). Jimmy retired December of 2015 and spent five years with his family before starting as a convenience center operator for Berkeley County Water and Sanitation in January, 2020. He always knew one day he would work at one of his favorite places on earth which was the dump, it wasn’t just a job to him, he truly loved it. He loved Nascar, and Talladega was his home away from home. His most favorite past times were going with his family to races, waterparks, bowling, out to eat, movies, and attending all of his grandbabies school events and extracurricular activities.
He is survived by his daughters: Jamei Lee Mills and son in law Jesse Clyde Mills Jr. of St. Stephen, Brittany Christina Lee of Bonneau; His five grandchildren: Kirstin Melaina Lee, Talon James Lee, Jesse Clyde Mills III, Rhett Lee Lambert, & Bristol Reese Mills; two brothers: Kenneth E. (Karen) Lee Jr., James Frank Lee; three sisters: Teresa L. Strickland, Linda R. (Tony) Jackson, and Joanna S. Lee. He also had many niece and nephews that he loved like his own. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth E. Lee Sr., his mother Christina J. Lee, and brother John W. Lee.
Jimmy Lee was a true angel on this Earth and will be deeply missed. He was the big dog, but his body was too small for the size of his huge heart. We will see you on Victory Lane Big Dog!
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it – NIV: Hebrews 13:2
