James Woodrow Pierce, 87, of Bethera, widower of Thelma Pauline Pierce, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016.
James was born December 5, 1928, in Berkeley County, a son of William James Pierce and Mary Mills Pierce.
He and Mrs. Thelma shared 49 years of marriage before her passing in 1998. He retired as a millwright having worked at Georgia Pacific and Jamestown Woolen Mill. He was a member of Quimby Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are two daughters- Sandra P. Christmas and her husband, Bobby, of Marianna, Fla.; Tammy E. Potter and her husband, Phillip, of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons- James A. Pierce of Bethera; Woody Pierce and his wife, Kathy, of Alpharetta, Ga.; thirteen grandchildren- Bobby Christmas, Jr.; Kimberly Wiggins; Heidi McCartle; Chassidy Cassady; Cherish Potter; Heather Mohan; Tonya Balicki; Melanie Poplin; Sherry Williams; Shannon Wing; Jeremy Pierce; Bryan Pierce and Jamie Pierce; twenty one great grandchildren; four brothers- Lewis Pierce; Aiken Pierce; George Pierce; Cecil Pierce; three sisters- Alberta Johns; Pearlie Litchfield and Mary "Snookie" Matthews. He was predeceased by three sisters.
His graveside service will be held at Quimby Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Thursday morning, September 22, 2016, at 10 o'clock.
