James Ray Pitts Lee

Mrs. James Ray Pitts Lee, 92, of Ladson, widow of Robert E. Lee, Sr., died Monday, September 20, 2010, in a Charleston hospital.

Mrs. Lee was born June 10, 1918, in Newberry County, the daughter of James Ray Pitts and Ola Bishop Pitts.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cordesville and a retired teacher and Assistant Principal at Macedonia Elementary School, having been in administration and a teacher in Berkeley County Schools for 40 years. She attended Silverstreet Scools; Newberry College; and received her ME from the Citadel.

She was a member of S.C.E.A.-R; intermediate and adult Women's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Cordesville; and taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for many years.

Surviving are her granddaughter - Laurie James of Ladson; grandson - Robbie Lee of Ladson;daughter-in-law, Nora Lee; 2 great grandchildren - Amanda James and Jonathan James of Ladson; a niece - Kathy Lee of Ladson;and 2 nephews - Bobby Lee and Edward Lee of Florida. She was prdeceased by her son Robert E. Lee,Jr. of Ladson

Her funeral service will be Thursday afternoon, September 23, in First Baptist Church of Cordesville, at 4 o'clock. Interment will be in Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Russell Funeral Chapel between 6 and 8 o'clock Wednesday evening.
